Pink Peony Wedding Bouquet

I’ve been head over heels in love with this rustic vineyard wedding since the day it went live on Macon Photography’s blog. I think I emailed Briana shortly thereafter requesting it for feature. That’s how much I loved it. I still do. It’s a little bit vineyard, a little bit cowboy chic, and every bit gorgeous. From the beautiful florals including bright pink peonies, sweet rustic signs, cowboy boots every which way, the cute cake smashing, and the GORGEOUS couple portraits in a field of yellow wildflowers. My heart be still — they were one of the first reasons I fell in love with this wedding I’ll have you know!!

Casey and Charlie met years ago through mutual friends, but they were both dating someone at the time. They would see each other occasionally and attended many events together. Little did Casey know that every time they happened to see each other, Charlie would tell his family everything he could about her, grinning from ear-to-ear the entire time. It wasn’t until later (after they were dating) that Charlie’s father told Casey, “Every time that boy talked about you, I could see it in him that you were meant to be!”

Years went by and Casey and Charlie were both single again. They would still see each other and hang out every so often with friends, attending concerts or baseball games, and going jet skiing. The first time they hung out, just the two of them, Casey was nervous!! They’d been friends for years and it was JUST dinner, but she was attracted to him, and as she later found it, it was more than just dinner to HIM!!

An innocent dinner between friends really turned into more than that, for him at least. After that night, Charlie had wanted to pursue more than just friendship with Casey, but she was afraid to. She was attracted to him and oh, did he give her butterflies!! But she was afraid to date him. The “what if it didn’t work out” idea in her head was stronger than the “skip-a-beat” feeling in her heart. She was afraid of losing him as a friend, someone she’d trusted and loved for a long time already, someone she didn’t want not to be a part of her life. But Charlie felt like she’d led him on. He was so certain that their feelings were mutual (which they were, but she was too scared to admit them). You could say that Charlie had had enough. If Casey wasn’t willing to take their friendship to the next level of relationship, then he didn’t want to be friends either. It was just too painful for him. And that was it.

Casey was heartbroken. Their friendship, something she had cherished and loved, something she had been so afraid of losing, was slipping away from her anyways. She didn’t hear from him and months passed. She finally reached out to him. He was still upset with her, she could hear it in his voice. But Casey needed this respectful, loyal, wonderful man in her life! If dating him was what it took then so be it – if he’d still have her…

They talked. About everything. They let it all out, the truth, the ifs, ands, or buts, and everything in between. She was just so glad to hear his voice, that everything was out in the open, that things were normal again, that they were back in each other’s lives, but for the better this time. They were dating – finally, together.

Three months after they started dating, Charlie introduced Casey to his ENTIRE family on Thanksgiving!! They took her in like she was one of their own and kept saying things like, “we’ve heard so many good things about you!” and “we are soo glad the two of you are finally together!” 🙂

They had a last minute weekend free and decided to take a trip before Casey started a new job. Charlie had thrown around the idea of going to New York City as he’d never been before. So, at the last minute, they booked a trip to the Big Apple!

They were having a great time seeing all the sites New York has to offer. They had a few specific places on their itinerary, the Empire State Building being one of them. Casey had been to New York City before and really wanted to share that particular sight with him.

It started snowing the moment they stepped outside at the top!! They were looking over the edge, Casey was bouncing from side to side (typical tourist) snapping pictures! She was about to move to the other side (again) when Charlie said, “Babe!” As she turned around, he got down on one knee, pulled a box out of his pocket, opened it and said, “Will you marry me?” At the top of the Empire State Building, she said yes!!!

{From the Bride} When we were searching for a venue, we had the hardest time finding something that was “us.” So off to Williamsburg, Virginia we went and fell in LOVE with the Williamsburg Winery – the perfect picture-scape for an outdoor ceremony with just a touch of country chic for the reception. PERFECT!!

From there everything else just sort of fell into place. Don’t get me wrong it was extremely stressful; we knew what we liked, it was just a matter of finding it. And of course, I waited until the last minute for everything! I also had a really hard time setting anything in stone. I wasn’t indecisive, I’m just particular, and wanted to make sure every detail was perfect! Ok, maybe a little obsessive compulsive too 🙂 Many people told me not to stress over the small stuff or they’d say “no one is even going to notice!” – but in my eyes, every detail had to be perfect!

I wanted to be a DIY bride – I had the ideas, I just wasn’t sure on how to go about making the things! That’s when I reached out to Mary Anne, owner of Tidal Bay Collections, to help make the burlap and lace koozies. Mary Anne and I brainstormed some wonderful ideas and she made some beautifully crafted wedding favors for us! From there the ideas just kept flowing and she ended up making a few other items for our wedding too!

Five months before the wedding I looked into hiring a Day of Coordinator! Julie, owner of As You Wish Event Planning, was my saving grace! She was very helpful throughout the rest of my wedding planning process and my listening ear when I needed to vent (Charlie was very happy to pass that off!). Having a Day of Coordinator was such a relief – the day of the wedding, I didn’t have to worry about how anything was being set up, what time vendors were showing up, and I didn’t know of a single thing going wrong!

Our wedding day was everything we could’ve imagined! It went by in a blur, even the guests say it did! Charlie and I threw around the idea of doing a first look – we aren’t the traditional type but this was one thing we wanted to keep traditional. We were tight on time for pictures and we did leave the reception at one point so we could go take a few more pictures together – but in hindsight, we wouldn’t change a single thing and not doing a first look was a special thing to us!

One of my most memorable moments was seeing Charlie for the first time as I walked down the aisle. You could see the love he expressed for me all over his face – he was very emotional and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. Another memorable moment was our first dance. We danced to Eric Church’s You Make It Look So Easy. We aren’t much for dancing, and we were nervous about it, but as soon as the moment came it was like we were the only two in the room. This song was ‘our song’ and the first thing we planned for the wedding. The lyrics describe us perfectly!

Our wedding day was so special and expressed us to a T! We are so thankful to have shared it with so many people who love and support us. It’s a day I wish I could relive every day!
